“Can we eat all these things?”

asked the country mouse.

“Of course!” said the town

mouse. “Let’s have a feast. Oh, it’s

such a wonderful life!” the town

mouse said, biting into a piece of

fresh bread.

Suddenly, they heard footsteps.

“Quickly! Hide!” whispered the

town mouse. “The lady of the

house is coming!”

The mice hid in

the pantry and waited

for her to go. Then,

they returned to enjoy

their feast.

But just as they were about to

bite into a chunk of cheese, the

man of the house came in.

“Oh, it’s those rotten mice

again! I thought we got rid of

them. Let’s send in the cat!” he

said in a very loud voice.
